Stanley Kolach

Albany-Stanley Kolach, 89, died Sunday, September 20, 2015 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Albany, Stanley was the son of the late Martin and Marianna Kolach. Stanley and his family returned to Poland when he was 5 and was raised in the village of Stradzew. During the Nazi occupation of Poland Stanley was taken to a Labor Camp for 5 years. He returned to America at age 19, met his wife and went on with his life. Stanley had worked at Tobin First Prize, Niagara Mohawk, and then 40 years at AL Tech Specialty Steel in Watervliet. He was a 62 year communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, where he was a member of the Holy Names Society. Stanley was also a lifetime member of the Polish American Citizens Club. He enjoyed vacationing at the Jersey Shore and summer picnics at Lake George and Saratoga. Stanley also enjoyed playing cards, bus trips, and the trip he took back to Poland with his beloved wife, Margaret. He was the husband of the late Margaret Michna Kolach; father of Stephen Kolach (Lynda), Theresa Masella (Gaetano), and Joseph Kolach (Bonnie); grandfather of Stephanie Kolach, Sarah Condor, Justin Kolach, Jennifer Parker, Michelle Rock, Loren Ward Jr and Kristen Kolach; great grandfather of Lola, Zoey, Deon, Deonna, Justice and Cajuan; great great grandfather of Da Niah, and Niko; brother of Frances Kazmierczak and the late John and Joseph Kolach; brother in law of Mary Michna and Catherine Kolach; several nieces and nephews also survive. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with Stanley’s family Wednesday, September 23, 2015 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany. Funeral services Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 10:00 am in the McVeigh Funeral Home, Albany thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany at 10:30 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will immediately follow the Mass at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
