Rose Anne Gaudet

Albany, NY-Rose Anne Gaudet born February 19, 1922, in Springfield, IL to Harry and Rose Shaughnessy passed away March 6, 2026, at Teresian House with family at her side. Rose was predeceased by her siblings, James, William and Harriet, her husband Joe and eldest child Mary Lynn, son-in-laws Paul LaVigne, Larry Scheer and grand son-in-law Will Klose. She is survived by Susan LaVigne, James (Peg), Marbeth (Vince), Patricia Scheer and John (Liz); Grandchildren Karen Klose, PJ LaVigne (Lisa), Kevin LaVigne (Shannon), Jimmy Gaudet (Samantha), Mary Phelps (Kevin), Kate Chapman (Rob), Hailey Towne (Jeb), Emily Clermont (Dave), Jeff Scheer (Nia), Ellen Collins (John), Patrick Gaudet (Heather) and over 20 great grandchildren. A trail blazer, Rose was the first female bank teller at the National Commercial Bank in Chicago where she lived from high school until her marriage. Rose and Joe relocated to Albany where she became a homemaker until returning to work in 1962 at the X-Ray Department at St Peters Hospital. Rose then worked at the St Catherine of Siena Rectory Office for Msgr. Laurence P Kelly until his retirement and then became a Bookkeeper for the Visiting Nurses Association. As the parent of a physically challenged child, Rose was a co-founder of the Albany Chapter of the ARC which became New Visions. Rose served three terms as President of the PTA at Saint Catherine of Siena School and co-founded the school’s first bazaar and three thereafter, was a Mercy Association volunteer, spent many hours at Arbor House, a halfway house for women. Always, leading efforts to share kindness, Rose led the craft group and then senior craft groups to make items for nursing homes and shut-ins, arranging trips, dinners and speakers for 10 years. Rose Anne initiated employee appreciation at the Visiting Nurses Association. Rose was a woman of many talents with a generous spirit and hospitality of heart with her greatest joy derived through the role of mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The family is forever indebted and grateful for the devoted care Rose received at the Teresian House. Doyle Way), Albany, NY 12206. Funeral services Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 9:00 am at The Parish of Mater Christi where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, NY immediately following the Mass.
