Richard V. Padula

Albany, NY-Richard V. Padula, age 93, went home to be with his Lord on February 7, 2025. He was born in Albany, NY. Richard was a proud veteran of the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and really enjoyed watching and participating in sports. He boxed, played Twilight League baseball, was a ping pong champion in the Army, and cut a mean rug! He also loved music, especially Frank Sinatra. Richard was a “Road Warrior” for many years, as he made over 30 trips to Philadelphia so his daughter, Rita, who was born blind, could have the gift of sight. Richard treasured his family and always enjoyed being with them. Richard worked for Mohawk Brush, then for New York State as a custodian, and retired as a supervisor. Richard spoke Italian, as well as English, and was very proud of his Italian heritage. He was also a great fan of his wife’s cooking! Richard loved his children and grandchildren and welcomed his foster great-grandbabies into his heart, too! We will miss his storytelling and the way his eyes got big when he was excited about something, his sense of humor, his generosity, and his love, which lives in all of us. Richard was predeceased by his three brothers, Anthony, Rocco, and Maurice. He leaves behind the love of his life, and devoted wife of 65 years, Angelina (Mastroianni) Padula, his children, Maurice (Donna), John (Charlene), and Rita. He also leaves his grandchildren, Nicholas (Bree), Kristen (Lung), Emily (Jess), and Josiah (Morgan), plus his great granddaughter, Lily. Lily had a very special place in his heart and she adored her Great Grandpa. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Richard’s family Wednesday, February 12, 2025, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Vincent De Paul Church, Albany, NY where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY immediately following the Mass.
