Raymond S. Oliver Jr

Albany-Raymond S. Oliver Jr, 83, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Raymond and Johanna Corbet Oliver. He was a lifelong resident of Albany. He was the husband for 57 years of Doris P. Giacci Oliver; beloved father of Patricia Ann Keller, Raymond John Oliver (Jennifer) and Sandra Jean Dott (Chip); cherished grandfather of Jennifer (John), Stacy (Omar), Daniel (Fiancée Sarah), Rachel, Ashley, Stephanie, Emily, Alex and Courtney; great grandfather of John “Jack”, Liam, and Chase; brother of Marion Kirby (late John), Joan Walsh (Gordon), Charles Oliver (Joanne), John Oliver (late Pat) and the late Leanora Oliver and James Oliver (Carol); many nieces and nephews and their families survive Ray. Ray served three years with the US Twelfth Air Force Headquarters in Europe during the Korean War. For many years he was a Democratic Committeeman in Albany. He was a member and past treasurer of the Italian American Community Center, and also served on the Board of Directors for the Columbus Day Parade and Italian Festival. Ray was also a member of the Monjet Investment Club, and First Friday Club. He was a member of the Lake George Association, where he previously served on the Board of Directors. Ray retired from the New York State Department of Transportation as Assistant Director of the Equipment Management Division. He was completely devoted to his loving wife and family. He enjoyed gardening, outdoor activities, sports, classical music and frequent luncheons with his retired friends, as well as time spent at their second home at Lake George. Ray was a communicant and Usher at All Saints Catholic Church, Albany (formerly St. Margaret Mary’s Church). The family would like to thank all the doctors and staff at Albany Medical Center Hospital VICU, St. Peter’s Hospital, and Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. Funeral services Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 8:15 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany, NY 12203 at 9:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday, May 13, 2013 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Those wishing to remember Raymond S.
