Patricia "Pat" Kirwin Miller

Albany, NY-Patricia “Pat” Kirwin Miller, 93, entered Eternal Life Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center surrounded by loved ones. Born in Albany on June 2, 1930 she was the daughter of the late James A. Kirwin and Anna Mary Heim Kirwin. Pat was the oldest of 5 children. Pat was educated in the parochial schools and attended SUNY Albany. She was employed by the New York Telephone Company and received many well deserved promotions over the years. Pat retired from the Albany School District where she worked in the Albany High School Library. She felt her most rewarding and enjoyable career were the years she spent being a stay at home mom with John. Pat was know as a young woman who always drove a convertible with the top down. With a flair for fashion and at the height of 5’ 11” she was a beautiful woman on the inside and outside. Pat was married to the love of her life in 1968, Jim Miller. Pat met the second love of her life when she gave birth to their son John J. Miller. As a supportive parent, Pat always enjoyed being involved in John’s schooling and being a volunteer at the schools. She was also active in her church and spent many years volunteering for the Society of the Holy Rosary, along with other organizations. She was a proud member of the Albany Elks, Lodge 49 where she was honored as Elk of the Year in 2010. As the oldest of five children, Gerry, Mary Sarah, and Ann, Pat was always willing to lend a hand. One of her siblings remarked that Pat could always cover for you when the situation required it. Upon retirement Pat and Jim enjoyed spending summers in Lake George at their camp. Pat could often be found with a book in her hand or the New York Times Crossword Puzzle. Pat always enjoyed socializing and made many long lasting friends where ever she was. The family would like to thank the staff at the Daughters of Sarah for the excellent care she received while living there. Pat was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Mae Kirwin. She is survived by her husband of 55 years and her son John. A brother Gerry (Rosemarie) of Virginia, sisters Mary Cahill of Texas, Sarah McDonald of New York, and Ann (John) Bay of Maine. Sister-in-law Peggy (Jim) and Christine (Mike) Cars. Many nieces and nephews survive. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Pat’s family Tuesday, October 31, 2023 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208n North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. Funeral services Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 10:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave. (Father John Bradley Way), Albany, NY 12206 where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
