Monica P. Poznanski

Voorheesville-Monica P. Poznanski passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, surrounded by family and friends, after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved daughter of the late Genero and Anne Pisarri. Monica was a model of true friendship. She cherished the relationships she formed throughout her life; from her early days at Marylrose Academy and Holy Names, to her time at SUNY Plattsburgh, where she earned her bachelor’s degree, and SUNY Albany, where she completed her master’s degree. It was during these years that many of her lifelong friendships were built and nurtured. A defining part of Monica’s life was her career and unwavering commitment to her students. She dedicated more than 30 years to Watervliet City Schools as a guidance counselor, making a lasting impact on countless students and families. Even after her retirement, Monica felt called to continue serving others and stepped into a role at Hudson Valley Community College, where she once again inspired and transformed the lives of students. Above all, Monica was a devoted and deeply loved wife, mother, nana, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Poznanski; her daughter, Alyssa (Poznanski) Szu-Tu, and son-in-law, Derek Szu-Tu; her grandsons, Austin and Wes Szu-Tu; her brothers, Thomas Pisarri and Richard Pisarri; her sisters-in-law, Janet Mar and Anna Morris; and her brothers-in-law, Jan Poznanski and Bill Poznanski. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Monica’s family Sunday, December 21, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 p.m. at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Monica’s Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Church, 25 Mountainview Street, Voorheesville, NY 12186, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated.
