Molly Phinney "OG" Larson

Albany, NY - Molly Phinney “OG” Larson, 74, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend to many, and retired Albany High School Phys Ed Nurse, entered Eternal Life Wednesday, September 18, 2024. She left us surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Albany, Molly was the cherished daughter of the late Arthur W. and Patricia Taffee Phinney. Molly graduated from the Junior College of Albany with an LPN degree in nursing, then finishing at the Albany Medical College becoming a registered nurse, working in local hospitals, taking time to raise her family, and then re-entering nursing at the Albany City School District. There, she became active in the Albany Public School Teachers Association, advancing the standing of school nurses in the district and Greater Capital Region. She loved working with the students and staff and everywhere she went, hugs were shared with former students. Molly was known for her hugs. After retirement, Molly or “Non” as she became, truly lived her best days with her life-long love/PIA, Jimmy, gardening, reading, baking thousands of Christmas Cookies, collecting recipes to try, and volunteering at the Focus Churches Food Pantry. She did everything for her grandchildren, which included attending all their sporting events without ever picking up on any rules of the games. Jack, Sean, Matty, Brian, and Keira were her world. She was the beloved wife for 52 years of James “Jimmy” Larson; loved and cherished mother of James Arthur Larson, Christopher William Larson (Una) and the late Molly Quinn Duffy; mother-in-law of Bernard Duffy; dear sister of Diane Dollard (Charles), David Phinney (Donna), Ann DeGonzaga (Tim), Regina Phinney, Michael Phinney (Susan), and late Arthur Phinney (Chris); sister-in-law of Laura Tumonis (Joe), Lynn Quadrini (late Dennis), and the late Julia McManus (late Corneilus); she is survived by her grand children, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Joyce Barlin, Sherry Sherman PA, and the incredible nurses at Community Hospice. The compassionate care and exceptional medical attention Molly received were truly extraordinary. Doyle Way), Albany, NY 12208 where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY immediately following the Mass.
