Linda Snyder Mahon

Albany-Linda Snyder Mahon, 66, of Clifton Park and longtime Albany resident died Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Gerald W. and Jane Loughlin Snyder. She was the beloved wife for 47 years of Joseph T. Mahon Jr; dear mother of Joseph T. Mahon III (Maria) of Albany, Lisa Lynch (Joseph) of Newton, MA, Laura Garand (Michael) of Southborough, MA, Kimberly Henzel (Todd) of Clifton Park, and Michelle Mahon (David Sowinski) of Albany; cherished Nonnie of Conner Mahon, Ned and Cameron Lynch, Riley, Shea and Nola Garand, TJ Reilly, Grace and Abigail Henzel and the late Ryan Mahon; sister of Jean Snyder (David Domino) and the late Katherine Snyder Fraller (Al); sister in law of Maureen Murgia (late Albert); beloved aunt of Gregory Murgia (Lynn), Maura Engels and Heather and Brandon Fraller; also survived by many cherished friends. Linda was a graduate of Kenwood Academy, attended Boston College and graduated from the University at Albany. She was very active in the Ladies Guild, as an aide in the classroom, and as a room mother at both St. Catherine of Siena and Holy Cross Schools. She was active as a Girl Scout Leader and in the CBA Mothers Association. Linda was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution and the Mesdames Bowling League. Linda’s greatest joy came from dinners with her children and grandchildren, and family vacations to Maine and Cape Cod. She regularly attended her grandchildren’s activities and spoiled them with special outings. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, and morning coffee on her screened-in porch. The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care Mom received from the staff at St. Peter’s 4 Gab and the Hospice Inn, along with Drs Dalzell, Phang and Serfillippe. Funeral services Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11:45 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to the Parish of Mater Christi, Albany at 12:30 pm where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday, 4:00 to 7:00pm in the funeral home. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet.
