Joseph V. Commisso Commisso, Joseph V. WESTMERE Joseph V. Commisso, 82, passed on to the Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born June 14, 1927 (Flag Day) in Siderno Marina Calabria, Italy. He was the son of the late Francesco and Maria Commisso. Joe immigrated to the United States in 1947. He, his brother and his brother-in-law owned and operated the former Cosimo's Italian Restaurant in Albany for over 25 years. He was a communicant of Christ the King Church and a former member of the Guilderland Elks. He enjoyed watching Yankee games, tending to his vegetable garden and his fig tree, most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. "Papa Joe" especially cherished the moments with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Angelina Muscolino Commisso; father of Maria Musto (Arn Armstrong), Frank (Roseann) Commisso, and Anthony (Colleen) Commisso; grandfather of Alexander, Gregory, and Nicole Musto, Joseph, Paul, Daniel, Emma, Kaeleigh, Tony and Grace Commisso; brother of Rosa (Cosimo) DeLeo, Angelina (Christopher) Camarata, Antonio Commisso and sister-in-law Vincenzina Commisso. Predeceased by his brother, Cosimo Commisso. Also survived by brother-in-law, Joseph (Frances) Muscolino; and sisters-in-law, Domenica (the late Giovanni) DiPietro and Maria (Domenico) Miuccio; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the physicians and caregivers who attended to Joe's needs through the years. Funeral from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St. Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. thence to Christ the King Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-8 p.m. The parish family of Christ the King Church will gather at 4:30 in the funeral home for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will follow the Mass in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Joe Commisso may be made to Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave., Albany, NY 12203, or St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, 319 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
