Joseph G. Rosetti

Albany-Joseph G. Rosetti, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 1, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Schuyler Ridge. Joe was born in Albany on November 27, 1929 to Luciano and Maria Rosetti. Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Noreen J. Rosetti. He was the father of Joseph L. Rosetti (late Mary Ellen) of Latham, Patti (Rosetti) Shmaruk (Rick) of Slingerlands, and Tom Rosetti (Maryanne) of Ballston Lake. The cherished grandfather (grandpa) of Jacqueline Rosetti-Hackett (Brian) of Albany, Angela Rosetti (Lawrence Schaefer) of Niskayuna, Teresa Rosetti of Clovis, NM, Amanda Keller (Stephen) of Clifton Park, Chris Dezuba of Ballston Lake. In addition, Joe was the devoted and adored great grandfather of Anna Austin, age 10, Elijah (E.J.) Hackett, age 5, and Olivia Keller, age 3 1/2 months. Joe is survived by his sister Frances (Rosetti) Blendell (Robert), and his brother Carlo Rosetti (Alexis). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, loving friends and neighbors. Joe was a lifelong resident of Albany. He was the owner of several Capital Region car dealerships, including Yankee Dodge, Camelot AMC/Jeep and Clifton Park Dodgeworld for many years. Joe had a great love and passion for his family. He took tremendous pride in being a part of the lives of all his loved ones, especially his great grandchildren. Joe was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Yankees, Giants and Knicks. He has also attended and enjoyed many Superbowls throughout the years, with friends and family. Joe was also involved in many community activities and several charities. Joe was very proud of his Italian heritage. He was a member of the American Italian Heritage Association. He recently appeared with his siblings in the documentary, “The Neighborhood that Disappeared,” and was honored to be a part of it. Joe loved to travel the world with his wife, Noreen and together they enjoyed the art, food and culture wherever they went. Their favorite trips were always Italy and Ireland. Joe loved his home, where he enjoyed being the host to family and friends, listening to music, entertaining and having a wonderful time. He loved cooking big Italian meals with his family and cherished his beautiful garden filled with fresh vegetables and herbs. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment of it. The family would like to thank his special family and friends at Schulyler Ridge for all of the wonderful love, care and compassion that was given to him. He loved each and everyone of them. Funeral services Friday, January 8, 2016 at 9:30 am in the McVeigh Funeral Home, thence to the Historic Church of St. Mary on Capitol Hill at 10:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will immediately follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
