Jean Ann Reilly

Albany, NY-Jean Ann (McDonald) Reilly, a devoted family matriarch and a woman of unwavering love and generosity, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on November 11, 1930, in Albany New York, Jean was the last surviving child of Patrick and Eleanor Hay McDonald. She cherished the memory of her siblings: Jack, Eleanor, Edmund, Kathryn, Jimmy, Patricia, Robert. Their bond shaped her life and her deep commitment to family. Jean was the beloved wife of Eugene Reilly, with whom she shared an all too brief lifetime of partnership, laughter, and enduring devotion. Together, they raised a beautiful family and instilled values of kindness, faith, and resilience. She was the loving mother of Timothy (Linda), Colleen (Robert Kempter), Marc, Wendy, Kathleen (Tommy Morgan), Shawn (Uni), and Kimberly — each of whom was the joy of her life. Preceded in death by her loving husband Eugene, son Marc, grandson Michael, and best friend Selma Broadhurst, Jean’s legacy continues through her 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a large extended family including numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she adored beyond measure. Jean’s home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always welcoming. She took pride in caring for those around her, offering comfort, advice, or humor exactly when it was needed. Jean loved to travel, mostly to see family, and explore new places, but her greatest passion was always family. Whether hosting gatherings, celebrating milestones, or simply offering quiet support, she was the steady anchor of generations. She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the immeasurable love she poured into everyone fortunate enough to know her. May her memory be a blessing, and may her spirit live on in the hearts of all who loved her. The Family of Jean would like to express our sincerest thanks and gratitude to Dr. Harry Rosenstein and staff at Capital Region Prosthodontics, St. Peter’s Hospital, Community Hospice, and the Staff of the Evergreen Commons Rehabilitation Center and Nursing Home, all of whom, showed such kindness to Jean. Their respect, compassion, and care have been a great comfort. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Jean’s memory to the American Cancer Society. Relatives and friends may visit with Jean’s family Wednesday December 10th, at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206 from 11:00am to 1:00 pm with a brief service being performed from 12:30pm to 1:00pm. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. Jeans interment of ashes ceremony will be at the New Scotland Cemetery, 478 New Scotland Rd. South, Slingerlands NY 12159 at a later date.
