Janet A. Reedy

Ballston Lake - Janet Reedy (Blair) entered this world on July 21, 1937. Following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, she passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on August 3, 2021. She was born in Albany New York where she spent her formative years. Janet raised her family with her husband Joseph Reedy, in Colonie and more recently in Ballston Lake. Janet’s parents were Colton and Margaret Blair. She is survived by her three brothers, Donald (deceased), Richard Blair and his wife Barbara of Ballston Lake and her brother Ted. She is predeceased by her best friends in life, John and Ann Michaelides and Eleanor Bennett. She was blessed with an extended family that included nieces and nephews who live in Pennsylvania. With her husband Joe, she raised her sons John (Mary Passeretti), Joseph “Danny” (Kristy Hale), and her daughter Janice “Boo” Treanor and husband Mark. She was blessed with grandchildren Alyssa Treanor, Kayla Treanor, and Makayla Reedy. Four years ago, her great grandchild, Gracie Lou Grimes brought even more joy to her life. Space does not allow a mention of all her close friends and extended family that blessed her journey. Janet worked for many years in the New York State Legislature. She also worked in a battered women’s shelter downstate where she was affectionately known as “Mama Boo”. Her career however was caring for her family and her beloved Ballston Lake home. A long-time protector of animals, her family enjoys reminiscing about the many animals that were sheltered by her. She was affectionately called “squirrelly” for her propensity to care for injured animals in need of temporary shelter. While she loved to travel and enjoyed a good laugh, her main interest was supporting the love of her life, Joe. Calling hours will be held Monday, August 9, 2021 between 4:00 and 6:00 PM at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206.. Calling hours are open to the public and family and friends are invited. Please only enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot doorway; unvaccinated individuals must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Interment will be private. While flowers are appreciated, the family suggests a remembrance to either the Unity House Domestic Violence program or any animal protection organization.
