Jacquelyn "Jackie" Viana

Watervliet, NY-Jacquelyn “Jackie” MacNulty Viaña, 94, lovingly known as Tita to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025. She was a devoted mother, loving wife, and spirited adventurer. Born to the late John F. MacNulty and Loretta S. MacNulty, Jackie was a proud graduate of Emma Willard School and SUNY Albany, where she cultivated her sharp intellect and warm, engaging personality. Her life took its most joyful turn when she met the love of her life, Fernando Viaña, at a school dance at St. Mary’s School in Troy. Their romance led to marriage in 1951, and together they built a beautiful family, welcoming their first child in 1952. Eager for adventure, the young couple moved to Bolivia, where they embraced new experiences and formed lifelong friendships. In 1961, they returned to the United States to raise their three children, providing them with every opportunity for prosperity, education, and happiness. A woman of wit, charm, and competitive spirit, Jackie was a passionate bridge player, delighting in the game well into her final days. Her quick mind and love for strategy made her a formidable opponent and a treasured friend at the card table. Jackie is survived by her beloved her children Fernanda “Nan” Viaña McGrath (Jerry), Juan Carlos “Shawn” Viaña (Maria) and Kevin Alejandro Viaña (Mary); her grandchildren Carla Viaña Johnson, Kristie Keary, Mary Grace McGrath Dziewiatkowski (Craig), Alexander Viaña, Cristina Viaña, John Charles McGrath (Catherine), Nicolas Viaña, Danielle Viaña Stewart (Colin); and her great-grandchildren Gianna Dziewiatkowski, Francis Dziewiatkowski, Bernadette Dziewiatkowski, Sadie Johnson, Louis Dziewiatkowski, Frank Gaytan, and Hailey Stewart along with many nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her contagious laugh. She was predeceased by her siblings Audrey Keebler, Jay MacNulty, Sally Ann Ryan. "A life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a legacy of joy that will never fade." Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot only. Funeral services Friday, May 2, 2025 at 11:30 am at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, NY where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY immediately following the Mass.
