Edna P. Foley

Albany, NY-Edna P. Foley, 102, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Melbourne Florida surrounded by her family. Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Adeline Julia Palitsch. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Charles M. Foley; her brothers James Palitsch, Edward Palitsch, and her sister Shirley Potts. She is also predeceased by her son-in-law Richard Jarvis. Edna was a 1941 graduate of Catholic Central High School, Troy NY. After which she worked in various office positions. Her last position was with New York State as an account clerk until her retirement in 1991. A woman of deep faith Edna was a communicant of St. Teresa of Avila Church and Parish of Mater Christi, Albany. She was a devoted member of the Christ Child Society for over 30 years knitting numerous baby sweaters and hats for newborns in need and later volunteered at the Thrift Store for “Promise in Brevard”, a nonprofit organization supporting independent living for adults with cognitive and developmental and physical disabilities. Edna loved traveling accompanied by her family and her friends, but her greatest joy was her family. Known for her no-nonsense personality and generous heart, she was always there to lend a helping hand to those she loved. She is survived by her son Edward "Ned" (Mary) Foley of Covington, LA and daughters Patricia (Albert) Affonso of Delmar, NY, Kathleen (Richard) Jarvis of Rensselaer, NY, Colleen (Paul)LaFalce of Delmar, NY, Maureen (Craig) Smith of Melbourne, FL and Barbara (Scott) Lawson of Colonie, NY. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral Services Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 9:00 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, then to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar, NY at 10:00 am where a Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family Wednesday, August 5, 2026 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. The Rite of Committal will immediately follow the Mass at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.
