Christopher Anthony Bovenzi

Wynantskill-Christopher Anthony Bovenzi courageously fought an eight-year battle with cancer and passed on to eternal life with his beloved Savior on July 14, 2015. Chris was born in Syracuse, NY on August 11, 1962, to Peter and Elizabeth Bovenzi. In his boyhood, Chris mastered skills in theatre, photography and dirt bike riding. Chris met his cherished wife, Kari, during his first days as a student at the University at Buffalo; it was there that he also began his pursuit of his professional dreams to become an architect, and most importantly, surrendered his heart to Jesus. After graduating with his Master’s in Architecture from MIT, Chris applied his creative genius to his own architecture firm, CAB Architects, in which he was in business for 25 years. In addition to working as an architect, Lieutenant Bovenzi took his place as one of the heroes of our day, serving over twenty years in the Albany Fire Department. Chris poured his life into God and his family. He took great pleasure in supporting his children’s pursuits and never turned down a request for help on homework. He enriched their lives with countless books, trips to the library, delicious Italian meals, and improvised bedtime stories (many of which featured a character called “three-fingered Louie”). His generosity, attention to detail, and wisdom influenced countless lives. He launched his three children into fulfilling lives, equipping each of them with good humor, wisdom, and spiritual and emotional security. He passionately loved his wife and faithfully provided for her during their twenty-nine years of marriage. Chris was a man who never complained and always had a positive outlook in life. His family is honored to have been “Living the Dream” (Psalm 37:4) with him every day. Chris is survived by his wife, Kari; children, Elivia, Charlotte Skiff (Victor), and Elijah; grandchildren, Titus and Dante Skiff; siblings, Marc Bovenzi, Elisa Bovenzi Gironda, and Peter Bovenzi; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Chris’ family would like to thank Anthem Health Services, Eddy VNA, and Elizabeth Hanlon for her professionalism, compassion, and expertise during their time of need. Funeral services Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 10:00 am in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany and at 11:00 am at Grace Fellowship Church, Latham. Interment will immediately follow the Service at Eagle Mills Cemetery, Brunswick.
