Catherine Mary "Kay" Bonomo

Albany-Catherine Mary “Kay” Bonomo, passed away after a long illness on July 27, 2018. Born in Albany, NY on November 10, 1935, Kay was the daughter of Thomas and Catherine (Conlon) Tierney. She graduated from Vincentian Institute in Albany in 1953 and proceeded to work for NY Telephone Company for a number of years. Kay met her husband, Vincent who worked at Western Electric and they were married for 44 years before his sudden passing in 1996. After leaving the phone company, Kay briefly worked for NYS Audit and Control. After raising her family, she acquired her real estate license and worked for Joe Lane Realty. Just before becoming ill in 2013, Kay worked as a rental agent for Bethlehem Terrace Apartments in Slingerlands for over 35 years. In addition to her late husband Vincent, Kay is survived by her beloved children, Kim Thomas of Menands, Lisa Bonomo of Colonie (John Torpey), Cindy Diamond of Loudonville (John) and Michele Herbert of East Greenbush (Jon). She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Eric Smith, Christopher Thomas (Morgan), Kelly Sheldon (David) and Jeffrey and Benjamin Diamond. Kay recently became a great grandmother to Everett John Sheldon. Kay was the loving sister of John Tierney, who predeceased her in 1997. She is also survived by cousins, nephews, a niece and many wonderful and caring friends. Kay’s family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at NYOH, especially Dr. Lawrence Garbo. They would also like to thank the wonderful and caring team at Community Hospice, Eileen, Nick, Kim and Chaplain John. Funeral Services Tuesday July 31, 2018 at 8:15 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, Albany thence to Christ Our Light Catholic Church, Loudonville, NY at 9 am where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, immediately following the Funeral Mass.
