Bertha "Bertie" Rohling Finnigan

Albany-Bertha “Bertie” Rohling Finnigan, formerly of Latham and resident of Teresian House entered Eternal Life Wednesday, March 12, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Amsterdam, NY on April 19, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John and Edith Rohling. She resided in Albany and Latham most of her life and the last 2 years at Teresian House. She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam, NY and Albany Business College. She was the kitchen supervisor of Latham Bowl for many years. She was a member of St. Ambrose Church, past member of the choir and “Young at Heart.” Bertie was also an avid bowler. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, knitting, crafts, shopping and dining out for lunch. Devoted wife for 50 years of the late James H. Finnigan Sr.; loving mother of James H. Finnigan Jr (Ruth) of Slingerlands, George J. Finnigan (Alice) of East Greenbush, Suzanne E. Mahlstedt (Richard) of East Greenbush and Thomas C. Finnigan (Barbara) of Glenmont; sister of Henriette Gardinier (Robert) of Florida and the late twin sister Elizabeth Brown (Winfred), Marie Noxon (Elwood), Mildred Collyer (John), Henry Rohling (Helen) and Edith Aspin (Herbert); Nana of Lynn Gallant (Paul), James H. Finnigan III (Susan), Timothy J. Finnigan, Matthew G. Finnigan (Stephanie), Laurie Walter (James), Jeffrey Finnigan (Tracy), Cara Hart (Philip), Stephen Mahlstedt (Cassandra), Kathleen Finnigan (Ryan) and Kimberly Burns (Joseph); grandmother of the late Timothy P. Finnigan; dear friend of Ginny Mahlstedt and Helma Ryan; survived by 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10:15 am from McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to the Infant of Prague Chapel at Teresian House at 11:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday, March 14, 2014 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment Memory Gardens Cemetery.
