Anthony Paul Stellato

West Albany, NY — Anthony Paul Stellato, 89, entered eternal life on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born in West Albany, he was the beloved son of Vito and Anna Scaringe Stellato. Tony worked for many years as a millwright at the West Albany Tobin Packing Plant. Following the plant’s closure, he worked for the John Morrell Company as a building superintendent. He later served as Superintendent of Buildings for Albany County and then for the Town of Colonie, retiring in 2007. He also operated his own electrical contracting business. Tony loved cars, sunshine, and the outdoors. He took great pride in caring for his lawn and garden and enjoyed tinkering in his workshop. He was loved by his neighbors and highly respected in the community. Above all, Tony cherished his family and took great joy in spending time with and spoiling his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Tony is survived by his wife of 67 years, Judy Stellato; his children, Kathleen Stellato (Paolo) and Tony Stellato Jr. (Jerilyn); his grandchildren, Lynda Constantine (David), Alex Harrouff (Jeff), and Casey Miller (Scott); and his great-grandchildren, Niko, Colt, Gray, Gage, Henry, and Josie. Those who knew Tony will remember his wit, warmth, acts of kindness, willingness and ability to fix anything for anyone, and his endearing wink. He was loved by everyone who knew him. Tony was a member of the West Albany Volunteer Fire Department, the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society, and the Colonie Republican Club. He also served as a Town of Colonie Republican committeeman and as an usher at St. Francis de Sales Church. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tony’s family on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please enter the funeral home through the rear parking lot entrance only. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, NY 12211, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated.
