Virginia A. Foley Albany County BETHLEHEM- Virginia “Ginny” Foley, 65, passed to eternal life Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Washington D.C., she was the daughter of George and Rose Callahan Lloyd. She was a graduate of Albany High School and Albany Business College. Mrs. Foley worked as an executive secretary for Key Corp and later as an administrative assistant for Albany County, retiring in 2007. She helped establish and worked tirelessly for Karing for Kids, a charity to assist families in need. Ginny was actively involved in Caring Together, an ovarian cancer support and awareness group. This fall Ginny took great pride in her team, Mind Over Matter, participating and raising funds for the groups 2009 Teal Ribbon Walk. She was a devoted grandmother who found pleasure in her love of decorating, scrapbooking, flowers, birds and butterflies. She had an open heart full of love and viewed the world through rose colored glasses. She was the cherished wife of James P. Foley, Sr. who she had spent the last 50 years with in perfect balance. She was the loving mother of James P. Foley, Jr (Tedi Dawn), Diane Chowenhill (David), Dawn Foley and Darlene Reedy (Michael); devoted grandmother of Shea and Kylar Foley, Shamus, Kellen and Tiernan Chowenhill and Taylor Rose and Brett Reedy; sister of George Lloyd and Mary Ann King. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. from the McVeigh funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St., Albany thence to the Parish of Mater Christi (formerly St Catherine of Siena Church) at 10:30 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. The family would like to thank Dr Thomas Morrissey, Barbara, Anne, Lisa and the rest of the staff at Womens Cancer Care Assoc. for their care and support during Ginny’s spirited battle with ovarian cancer.
