Teresa Scisci

Guilderland-Teresa Scisci, 97, entered Eternal Life Friday, February 18, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. Born on June 28, 1924 in Binghamton, NY, she was the daughter of the late Marino and Annunziata Salamino Franchini. She was predeceased by her 4 brothers and 3 sisters Joseph, Lawrence, Gino, Cosimo, Antoinette, Yolanda and Joanna. In 1937 she emigrated to Monopoli, Italy as a young child with her parents and siblings, where she later met her husband of 51 years, the late Giovanni Scisci, and gave birth to her children Tina Michaels (late David), Marisa Ferracane (Tonino), Rita McCann (Dennis), Pasquale M. Scisci (Nancy) and a late infant lost at birth, Pasqualina Scisci. Teresa returned to the United States in 1959 with her husband and children, settling in Albany and serving as a longtime employee of the Albany City School District. She was an active member of the Italian American Community Center in Albany and enjoyed sewing, visiting casinos and cooking, especially homemade pasta, pizza and eggplant parmigiana. She is the cherished grandmother of John, Brian, Teresa, Mark, Jason, Jeremy, Brendan, Genna and Giovanni and is survived by 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, and many nieces and nephews in the United States and Italy. The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to Kelly Vickers, and Dr. John David Filippone for their outstanding and compassionate care. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Teresa’s family Thursday, February 24, 2022 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. Unvaccinated individuals must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Funeral services Friday, February 25, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Vincent De Paul Church, Albany, NY where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Masks are required for everyone. The Rite of Committal will be held at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery immediately following the Funeral Mass.
