Sheila A. Killelea

Albany, NY-Sheila A. Killelea, 79, entered Eternal Life Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany, she was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mary Ellen Stevens Killelea. Sheila graduated from The Academy of the Holy Names in 1960. She had a long career working for New York State Audit and Control Department. Sheila was an avid sports fan and was a former volunteer at the Blessed Sacrament Church Food Pantry. But her greatest love and commitment in life was to her family as a dedicated caregiver. Sheila was loved by everyone who knew her, but most fiercely by every child in her life. She played with them on her knees, paid them quarters to perch above her and comb her hair, walked them to Stewarts and the Dead End, played any sport her nieces and nephews asked, and stayed up late into the night talking with any child lucky enough to get to share her room at night. She was the loving sister of Kevin M. Killelea (Mary/Tippy), Eileen M. Keegan (Michael), Deirdre K. McEntarfer (Michael), and sister-in-law of Robert C. Grebert. She was predeceased by her infant brother, Joseph Killelea, her sister, Maura J. Grebert, her beloved aunt, Kathleen V. Killelea, and her neice, Jill Grebert. Sheila was the cherished aunt of Brigid M. Killelea, Kathleen E. Tran (Quang), Thomas J. Killelea (Brandy), Michael K. Keegan (Thea Zajac), Kristen Gallagher, Heather K. McEntarfer (Leah Collins), Caitlin Holley (Christopher); beloved great aunt of Ryan, Liam and Graham Killelea, Colin and Clare Tran, Liam, Padraig and Declan Gallagher, Mollie and Caitie Grebert, Vera and Graham Keegan, Evan and Caroline Collins, and Andrew and Owen Holley. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Sheila’s family Thursday, January 5, 2023 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. Funeral services Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at the Convent of Mercy, 634 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208 where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY immediately following the Mass.
