Robert G. Sochor

East Greenbush-Robert G. Sochor, 80, passed away peacefully, on Oct 10, 2021, with his wife and children by his side. He was born October 2, 1941, the youngest child of 15, born to the late John Francis and Frances Mikus Sochor of Endicott, NY. Robert completed his high school degree at St. Francis, Staten Island, NY. He continued his education as a member of the Conventual Franciscans, at both St. Hyacinth college and St. Anthony-on-the-Hudson. He never lost his sense of identity with Francis of Assisi, always a gentle, loving, and caring person-loving animals and Sister Nature. In his own quiet way, Bob followed the words of Francis to "preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words." After earning his Masters' degree in Mathematics from The Catholic University, Bob continued his dedication to education: first, as a mathematics teacher at Canevin High School (Pittsburgh, Pa), then as principal at Canevin and as principal at Seton Catholic Central High School(Binghamton), Returning to his love of teaching the young, Bob taught Mathematics at Roselle Catholic H.S., and at Middlesex County Community College- both in NJ. For a number of interim years, Bob owned and operated Sochor Computer Schools. Bob is survived by his wife and best friend, Mary Ellen (Doyle) Sochor, his two children Kenneth John (Brooks) and Paula Marie (Mickie Dutcher), his sister Sister Francis Anthony of Syracuse, NY, his brother Gabriel (Donna) Sochor of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and his brother-in-law Rev. Kenneth J. Doyle. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by many of his brothers and sisters including Sister John Joseph Sochor who passed away recently. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Robert's family on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Mater Christi Parish, 35 Hurst Ave, Albany, NY from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Mater Christi Parish at 10:30 a.m. Unvaccinated individuals must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Interment will be held at a later date.
