Robert W. Parsons

Albany-Robert (Bob) W. Parsons, 91, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Eddy Heritage House in Troy. Born on March 15, 1930 in Albany, he was the son of the late Charles W. Parsons and Dorothy (Domser) Kretser. Bob graduated from Our Lady of Angels Grade School, and Albany High School, class of 1948. After high school, he was able to complete one semester at Siena College before being drafted into the army. He was sent overseas to Germany and served as a supply sergeant. In 1968, he completed an Associate's Degree at Utica College. This was no easy feat as he had a full-time job, a wife and five children. Bob had a long career in various businesses which culminated in his retirement as Office Manager from Fleet Bank in 1997. He was active in the church and served as a lector at both St Vincent de Paul Parish and Mater Christi Parish in Albany. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his good attitude. Bob was a patient man and always supportive to friends and family. His kindness and integrity were admired by all who knew him. Bob was the beloved husband of the late Joan (Kennedy) Parsons. Survivors include his brother Steven Kretser, as well as his children Lisa (James) Hoffman, Nancy (late Ronald) Rapp, Susan Parsons, Daniel (Patti) Parsons, and Christopher (Kelly) Parsons. His grandchildren are Lauren, Adam and Robert Hoffman, Kristen Parsons, Caitlin and Joseph Parsons, and Meghan and Sarah Crewel. He was a loving great-grandfather to Makenna and Leighton Hoffman. Bob also leaves behind his dear friend Evelyn Moore. His family will be ever grateful to the staff at Eddy Heritage House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center who assisted him with kindness, love and good humor. They provided a loving home environment that made him feel comfortable and secure. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob’s family Wednesday, March 31, 2021 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please only enter the funeral home from the parking low doorway; masks and social distancing are required; and 45 visitors at a time will be allowed in the funeral home. Funeral services Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 9:00 am at the Parish of Mater Christi, Albany, NY where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Please only enter the church from the parking lot doorway; masks and social distancing are required; and please attempt to arrive before 8:45 am. The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY immediately following the Funeral Mass.
