Michael P. Mansion Sr

Albany-Michael Philip Mansion died at home on January 25, 2021 surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. Michael was born on October 14, 1928 to Michael Francis and Catherine Murphy Mansion in Albany, New York. Michael was a 1946 graduate of Vincentian Institute and a 1950 graduate of Siena College with a bachelors degree in chemistry. He was employed by Niagara Mohawk Corporation from 1950 until his retirement in 1987. He also served in the New York Army National Guard. In 1952 Michael married Mary Elizabeth McCormick at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Albany. Michael served on the Board of Directors of the Community Resources Federal Credit Union. He also worked at the Knickerbocker Arena and was a civilian volunteer with the Colonie Police Department. Michael was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a member of the Albany County Democratic Committee. He was a life long parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. Michael is survived by his wife, Mary, and children Mary Elizabeth (Martin) Kittell of East Greenbush, Margaret Ann (James) Gannon of Hampstead, NC, Michael Philip Mansion, Jr. (Jodi), and Patricia Catherine (Richard) Schumaker of Haymarket, Virginia, grandchildren—Rachel and Rosemary Rogers, Kathleen Kittell, Martha and Clare Gannon, Natalie, Michael H., and Claudia Mansion, Isabelle, Gretchen, Adelaide, Kreszenz, Quenton, and Roth Schumaker, and his sister, Mary Sanders, and cousins, John and Joseph Korfhage. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Michael’s family Friday, January 29, 2021 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please only enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot doorway; masks and social distancing are required; and 35 visitors at a time will be allowed in the funeral home. Funeral services Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 9:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave (Father John Bradley Way), Albany, NY 12206 where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Please only enter the church from the Hunter Ave. Parking Lot doorway; masks and social distancing are required; 150 visitors at a time will be allowed in the church.
