Mary Pat Metzger

Loudonville, NY– Mary Pat Metzger, 93, of Loudonville, entered into eternal life on Wednesday December 30, 2020 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late John J. and Anne Dollard Hans. Mary Pat was born in Albany on March 17, 1927 and lived in the area all her life. She is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Joseph R. Metzger Jr., who passed in October 2018. Mary Pat was a graduate of Vincentian Institute and attended the College of St. Rose. She then worked for the New York State Teachers’ Association. In her 20’s, Mary Pat was a member of The Headliners quartet, performing locally in various clubs, radio, and television, sometimes with the swing band of her future husband, Joe Metzger, who she married in 1956. In her later years, she enjoyed golfing in women’s leagues at Mill Road and Town of Colonie. She was active for many years in the church choir at St. Pius X, where she was a parishioner for 64 years. Mary Pat is survived by her five children; Nancy Splonskowski (Mark) of Niskayuna, Joseph R. Metzger III (Rose) of Colonie, Stephen H. Metzger (Diane) of Galway, Janet Metzger of Ormond Beach FL, and John Metzger of Loudonville; eight grandchildren Stephen (Jill) and Kate Splonskowski, Jill Nava (Sean), Theresa Von Graupen (Scott), Mark Jensen, James, Matthew and Jennifer Metzger; five great grandchildren Sawyer, Greyson, Olivia, Lucas and Blake; and many nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by her brothers Jack, Bill, Ted and Peter Hans. Due to continued public health concerns, there will be no calling hours. Funeral services Monday, January 4, 2021 at 12:30 pm at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, NY where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Please only enter the church from the main doorway; masks and social distancing are required; church ambassadors will be available to help with seating and questions; and please attempt to arrive before 12:15 pm. The Rite of Committal will be held immediately following the Funeral Mass at 2:30 pm at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
