June N. Monette

Albany-June N. Monette passed away peacefully on Monday, August 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. June was born in Preston Hollow, NY on Dec. 29, 1940, to Willis and Frieda Whitbeck Teator. June spent her childhood in Chatham and graduated from Chatham High School before moving to Albany, where she worked as an underwriter at Public Service Insurance General Mutual. June met and married the love of her life, John R. Monette, in1968 and became the stepmother to John’s five girls. Soon after marrying, June and John added 5 more beautiful children to their brood. June’s most treasured job was as a devoted mother to her children. She found great joy being with her children as they participated in scouting, sports, and getting together with their friends. June loved her camp at Sacandaga Lake, especially on Pizza night Fridays and taking the kids to the beach. Family was always most important to June and when she was needed, she was there, always the steady. As her children grew older, June discovered a new passion, her grandchildren. June was the best “Granny” one could wish for, making all the time spent together special. The Parish of The Blessed Sacrament was very important to June, and she was fond of taking part in parish community activities. June found great pleasure being with her parish family. Although June will be missed for so many reasons, including the amazing holidays she hosted and her pistachio cake, her family finds great peace in knowing that June was reunited with her beloved John. June was the wife of the late John R. Monette. She was the loving mother of Jill Carkner (Scott), JoAnn Markopoulos (Jim), John Monette (Tanya), James Monette, Jay Monette (Megan). Stepmother of Gayle Coufal (Geoff), Linda Bowles (Charles), Catherine Androkavitz (Richard), Maureen Taylor (Robert), Patrice Cavalieri (Michael). Sister of Alfrieda Bryer, Rose Salisbury, Pamela Dunivin and the late Norman and Donald Teator and Elsie LaBate. She is survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with June’s family Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 3-7 pm at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please only enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot doorway. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Avenue (Father John Bradley Way), Albany, NY 12206, Monday, August 28, 2023, at 10:30am. The Rite of Committal will immediately follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
