Josephine Cavone

ALBANY Josephine Cavone, 56 years old and a lifelong resident of Albany, entered into Heaven on August 15, 2018, on the Feast of the Assumption. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of Maria (Calaveri) Cavone and the late Guido Cavone. Josephine graduated from Albany Public School #24, Hackett Middle School, Albany High School, and Albany College of Pharmacy. She worked at the Madison Avenue Price Chopper for 11 years, while in high school and college. She was a professional Pharmacist at CVS, spanning three decades at multiple Capital District locations. Josephine had an engaging smile that lit up the room and will be missed by all. Her genuine kindness and ability to see the good in all, was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a humble woman who was more interested in serving others more than being served herself. She always "brought the snacks." She loved gardening and decorating her home, both inside and out. She was an avid fan of rock music, and enjoyed going to concerts with her sister Vinnie, and later, with nieces and nephews. Josephine was a Mets fan, an enthusiasm she shared with her family. She enjoyed travel, to Italy; especially a trip to Venice on her birthday in 1998 and a pilgrimage for the canonization of Kateri Tekakwitha in 2012. She was cared for during her final illness by Dr. Colman and associates, nurses, and aides of the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her brothers and sisters, Angelo Cavone (Carol Klouse), AnnMarie Banks (Matthew), Frank Cavone (Karen), Anthony Cavone (Annette Pope) and Vincenzina Farry; her devoted friend and spouse Maureen Fay Harmon; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen O'Connell, (late James), Thomas Harmon (Loretta Dowling), Karen Law, William Harmon, John Harmon (Maureen Larkin), Phyllis Blow (Steven) and the late Michael Harmon, David Harmon, and James Harmon. Also survived by numerous loving, nieces and nephews and a host of longtime friends. Josephine was a communicant of The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She also regularly attended Blessed Sacrament, St. Francis of Assisi, All Saints, Mater Christi, and the VA Chapel. In preparation for daily Mass, she would research and reflect upon the daily scriptures. Josephine relied on her sister, AnnMarie, for guidance, medical advice, and matters of the heart. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Josephine's family on Tuesday, August 21, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church, Albany. A funeral Mass, officiated by Father William Pape, will immediately follow at 12 p.m. The Rite of Interment will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
