Joan A. Perry

Delmar, NY-Joan Abriel Perry, 85, died Thursday, December 15, 2022. Born June 21, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Ruth Devine Abriel and Edward H. Abriel. She was a 1955 graduate of Vincentian Institute in Albany. Joan married Ronald G. Perry in 1957. He predeceased her in 2008. Before moving from Delmar to Saratoga Springs in 1986, Joan was director of the Town of Bethlehem Youth Employment Services in Delmar and had worked at the New York Telephone Company in Menands, and Tri-Village Nursery School in Delmar. After moving to Saratoga Springs she was employed by the Saratogian Newspaper for 19 years before retiring in 2006. While living in Saratoga Springs Joan was a communicant of St. Clements Church and a member of the Vicariate of the Ladies of Charity. She had been a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and the Tri-Village Directory Association. She is survived by her beloved son Ronald J. Perry; a sister Sally Abriel Rook; a brother in law James H. Finnigan II; nieces and nephews Tracy Cunha, Robin Castiglione-Santiago (Mimi), James Castiglione (Maria Muniz), Joseph Castiglione, Lynn Gallant (Paul), Timothy Finnigan, Matthew Finnigan (Stephanie), Christine Franchini (Dan), and Susan Perry. She is also survived by several grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends Judy Reed, Cole Herrington, and Jeannie Jerome and other special friends; she was the sister of the late Susan Abriel Kulzer and Ruth C. Finnigan (James II). The family would like to thank the staff of St. Peter’s Hospital and The Community Hospice Inn for their extraordinary care and compassion. There were no visitation hours, and a Memorial Funeral Mass was celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. The Rite of Committal was held at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, NY.
