James J. Lennon

Menands, NY-James J. Lennon of Menands passed away peacefully on Jan 25, 2023. Jim was born in Albany, NY on July 21, 1931 the son of late James Lennon and Kathryn Lennon McKenzie. He was the step-son of the late Albert McKenzie. Jim grew up in Albany and was a graduate of Vincentian Institute, after high school, Jim graduated from Cornell University, earning a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree. He was a member of the Zeta Psi Fraternity were he established many life-long friends. Jim married his beloved wife Gerry in 1955. Following his service in the military as a 2nd Lieutenant in Virginia, Jim and Gerry moved back to the Albany area where they started their family and he established Almac Structural Products and later Almac Associates. Jim loved spending time at Lake George with family and friends, boating, fishing, skiing, and attending his grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He was a lifetime member of Wolferts Roost, and Cornell Club of NYC. Husband for 42 years of the late Geraldine Mitchell Lennon who passed away in 1997; he was the loving father of James P. Lennon (Julia), Kathryn Matthews (Chester), Julie Sheehy (Robert), Joseph Lennon (Tanya) and the late Michael J. Lennon who passed away in 2020, and grandfather of Andrew (Abigail), Kevin, Patrick, Kalley (Peter), Sarah, Julia, Steven, Sean, Maeve, and Eleanor, sister’s in law Carol Hearley, Elizabeth Corcoran, Louise (Ed) Stevens and dear cousins Barbara (late Jack) Reilly, Francis (Deborah) Trombly, Edward (Janet) Trombly, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the 4th floor of the Teresian House for their compassionate care over the last several months. Funeral services are Monday, January 30, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Historic Church of St. Mary on Capitol Hill where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY immediately following the Mass.
