Gertrude Frances Eannello

Albany, NY-Gertrude “Trudy” Frances Eannello (nee Micklas) went Home to the Lord on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, October 7, 2023, at age 88. Gertrude was born to Lavina S. and Stephen J. Micklas on August 5, 1935. Gertrude was predeceased by her parents and her Aunt Mary Micklas who treated her as a daughter, her beloved cat Sasha Kai and dogs King and Troubles. Gertrude is survived by her daughter Linda E. (Jeff) Kizivat, and her brothers Stephen (Andrea) Micklas and Francis Micklas. She was “Aunt Gert” to Keith (Debbie) Micklas, Lisa (Bob) Petta, Kevin (Mary) Micklas, Diana (Matt) Gierat, Karen Hoddle, Ronald Micklas, and many wonderful great-nieces and great-nephews. Trudy also leaves behind her “family of the heart” including Rodney, On, and Nader. As a young Army wife of Dominick Eannello, Trudy moved from upstate New York to Virginia where her lightning-speed typing and shorthand landed her ever-increasing civilian roles with the Department of Defense. After being transferred to Fort Richardson in Alaska, where Linda was born, they eventually returned to New York. Trudy made her home in Loudonville, New York for over five decades tending to her meticulous gardens, while caring for the birds, squirrels, and butterflies who visited her daily. She found beauty and peace in nature all around her. Trudy’s greatest gifts were her prolific creativity and her willingness to share her talents with others to help inspire them to find their own creative strengths. As a teen, she began designing clothing and even designed the lace and the wedding gown she wore on her wedding day. As a young mother, she turned to cake decorating and dress making. Later in life, she shared her attention to detail and eye for design and decoration as a Wedding Consultant helping couples plan their own wedding day. In the intervening years, Trudy had a full professional career as Educational Director for a leading ceramic supply distributor while traveling North America and the world to help others (from children to seniors) find their own creative muse. Always striving to grow the profession and discover the breadth of her own talents, Trudy often identified new techniques for porcelain/china decorating, hand-fashioned clay/porcelain roses, and relief work. She received numerous accolades for her accomplishments and sharing her methods with others. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on October 10, 2023, at St. Pius X in Loudonville with interment at the historic St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, New York.
