G. Ellen Kresge

Albany-G. Ellen Kresge entered eternal life on Thursday, July 7th, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. Born September 26th, 1936 in Cohoes, NY, she attended Grade School at St. Agnes (Cohoes, NY), followed by High School at the Academy of Holy Names (Albany, NY). Her caring spirit led her to pursue a career in nursing. She received her BSN from The College of Saint Rose in 1958 and spent 26 years working as a Registered Nurse at Albany Medical Center. Married on June 18th, 1960, Ellen spent 62 beautiful years alongside her husband Walter F. Kresge. The couple greatly enjoyed traveling and created lifelong memories exploring Europe, China, and Costa Rica. Later in life, Ellen, and her husband frequented Florida during winter months where they enjoyed the sunshine and comradery of others visiting their community. Ellen and her husband also shared a fondness for golfing and watching their favorite golfers compete in the PGA Tour. She further extended her love for golf by playing in local Women’s leagues. Ellen and her husband took up skiing early on in their relationship and passed down the love of the sport to her children and grandchildren who still frequent the mountains every winter. She enjoyed several other hobbies, such as making delicious pies for holiday meals, sewing, and watching the Boston Red Sox. More than anything, family was the shining light of Ellen’s life. She was a devoted mother to her two sons Jim and Alan and raised them with unconditional support. Ellen also leaves behind several grandchildren whom she loved and adored with every ounce of her being. She found great joy in watching the achievements of her children and grandchildren and was witness to many proud moments at birthdays, graduations, recitals, and more. Ellen cherished spending quality time with her loved ones, especially during summers on Cape Cod. Every year her family would gather around the dining room table to indulge in countless lobster and clam bakes, a meal she always looked forward to. Ellen is survived by her husband Walter F. Kresge; sons James Kresge (Krissy) and Alan Kresge; grandchildren Shannon Kresge, Ryan Kresge, Haley Kresge, Mackenzie Kresge, Zoe Kresge and Cassidy Kresge; her four nephews, Bartholomew, Benjamin, Brendan, and Justin Ryan; and Kathleen Testo Kresge. She is predeceased by her beloved brother Martin L. Ryan, MD as well as her parents Gertrude H. Ryan and A. Stanley Ryan. Ellen touched many lives throughout her 85 years. Her spirit and legacy will be carried on by those she loved and through the beautiful memories she gifted us throughout her lifetime. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave. (Father John Bradley Way), Albany, NY 12206. The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford, NY immediately following the Funeral Mass.
