Dominick F. Grant

Albany-Dominick Grant died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 15, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Michele Bialobzeski Grant for nearly 49 years. Dominick was born in McIntyre, Pennsylvania on December 21, 1930 to the late Frank (Francesco) and Josephine Recupero Grant (Grande.) He moved from McIntyre to Albany in 1946 and has lived in Colonie with his family for 45 years. He was the devoted father of Regina (David) Eastman, Christopher (Victoria) Grant and the late Robert “Lance” Grant. Dominick was the cherished grandfather of Grant, Hunter and Skylar Eastman. Theirs was an adoring relationship as Dominick was a wonderful grandfather and so proud of them. He would often sing to them and spent much time having fun with them, always nurturing and encouraging them along the way. He was beloved “Uncle Dom” to many nieces and nephews and is also survived by numerous cousins as well as his sisters-in-law Barbara (Robert) O’Keefe, Eleanor Nye, Marilyn Lorini Frank, Elizabeth (Nicola) D’Agostino; brothers-in-law Joseph (Kristi) Bialobzeski, Stanley (Teresa) Bialobzeski and Thomas Bialobzeski. He was predeceased by his beloved siblings: Nicholas Grant (killed in action in WW II), Grace Geraci, Mary (James survives) Baldwin, Margaret Kane, Franklin (Beatrice survives) Grant, Roseanna (Frank survives) Risler and Joseph (Lynne survives) Grant and many other dear family members. Dominick was employed as an operating engineer for many years as a member of the Upstate New York Operating Engineers Local 158 District 106 in Albany. He retired in 1992. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his family. Dominick extended warm hospitality to all who visited his home and he enjoyed planting and tending his vegetable garden every summer, producing the “best tasting tomatoes ever.” He was known to place a wager on the horses now and then and he enjoyed card games while visiting with friends for coffee and conversation. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dominick’s family Thursday, May 19, 2016, from 4 pm to 7 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany. Funeral services, Friday May 20, 2016 at 8:45 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, Albany thence to the Historic Church of St. Mary on Capitol Hill at 9:30 am where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Internment will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands immediately following the Mass.
