Name: Thomas Gecewicz Date: November 15th, 1952 - August 27th, 2012 Obituary: Albany-Thomas Gecewicz, 59, son of the late Joseph and Margaret (deRouville) Gecewicz, left for heaven on Monday, August 27, 2012, having fought without complaint a selfless, 8 year battle against cancer. His quick wit, playfulness and genuine affection will be sorely missed. Tom was the cherished husband for 37 years of Mary (Molineaux) Gecewicz and the devoted father of Jillian (Perry Hamilton) Gecewicz of Albany NY, Daniel (Jen) Gecewicz of Latham NY, Beth (Dave Laplante) Gecewicz of Mansfield MA, Theresa (Byron) Montalvan and Kateri (Eli) Gill both of Albany, NY. He was the beloved brother of Joseph (Mary) Gecewicz of Poinciana FL, Paul (Nancy) Gecewicz and Margaret (Brendan) Hession both of Albany NY. "Papa Tom" was both hero and playmate to his little "buddies": grandsons Joey and Drew Gecewicz and Jaden Hamilton and grandnephew Alex Hunter. Tom is also survived by many, many treasured nieces and nephews as well as the remaining 3/4s of his regular golf foursome, Tom Mayer, Mike Sharkey and Bill Wallace. Funeral services Saturday, Septmeber 1, 2012 at 8:15 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany at 9:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday, August 31, 2012 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment Albany Rural Cemetery.
